Steve Vanderwoude served as President and COO, and Director of Centel Corporation (acquired by Sprint); President and COO of the telecom division of Sprint; President and CEO and Director of Powerhouse Technologies (acquired by Anchor Gaming); Founder, Chairman and CEO of Madison River Communications (acquired by CenturyLink); Director and Chairman of Centennial Communications (acquired by AT&T); and investor in and Chairman of Merscom (acquired by Playdom).
Steve currently is an investor in and director of The Argyle Company, Inc., InMotionNow and Spring Metrics, Inc.
For twenty years, he has been a director of First Midwest Bancorp, a bank holding company in the Chicago region. He has extensive experience in public, private equity funded, venture capital funded and angel funded companies, in their operations, financing and governance, and exits.
He is an active supporter of Habitat for Humanity of Durham, WUNC, the Program in Humanities and Human Values of UNC Chapel Hill, Cornucopia Cancer Support Center, Food for the Poor, and the Food Bank of Eastern NC.
Steve holds a BSME from the University of Pennsylvania, and an MBA from the University of Chicago.
